2027 Default Resource Adequacy Values: New recurring process, first meeting on 9/9/26

The California ISO (ISO) will host a virtual stakeholder meeting on Sep. 9, 2026, to present the draft default qualifying capacity and default planning reserve margin for the 2027 Resource Adequacy. This is the first meeting in this new Default Resource Adequacy Values recurring process. Stakeholder comments are requested by Sep. 23, 2026.

The draft resource adequacy values were developed in compliance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved ISO tariff amendment on May 11, 2026. The ISO compliance filing was posted on May 20, 2026, and the requirements were implemented in the ISO’s Reliability Requirements Business Practice Manual.

This stakeholder meeting will provide stakeholders with information on the inputs and assumptions used in the modeling and calculation of the default Qualifying Capacity values and Planning Reserve Margin. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to review and comment on these inputs and assumptions prior to the ISO finalizing the default values. These materials, including supporting models, will be based on the ISO’s 2026 Summer Loads and Resources Assessment Report.

Meeting materials will be posted on the 2027 Default Resource Adequacy Values recurring process webpage prior to the meeting.

Please submit written comments on the meeting by end of day Sep. 23, 2026, through the ISO’s commenting tool using the link on the webpage above.
