Department of Market Monitoring 2025 Q1 Market Issues and Performance, call on 6/26/25

The California ISO Department of Market Monitoring has published the 2025 First Quarter Report on Market Issues and Performance, and has scheduled a stakeholder call on June 26, 2025, to discuss reported analysis and findings.

The report covers market results for the period from Jan. to March 2025. Prices were down about 39 percent across the Western Energy Imbalance Market compared to the same quarter of 2024, despite gas prices being higher at some Western hubs and lower at others. Average hourly generation from renewable resources in the WEIM footprint increased by about 4,910 MW (13 percent) compared to the first quarter of 2024.
