2026 Import Capability Allocation: Submission of Import Commitment Data

The California ISO assigns import capability for resource adequacy compliance purposes to load serving entities (LSEs) based on load ratio share, while respecting certain existing contractual and/or ownership arrangements known as pre-RA import commitments and new use import commitment, pursuant to ISO tariff section 40.4.6.2.1.

The following information must be submitted electronically to reliabilityrequirements@caiso.com with “2026 Import Allocation Section 40.4.6.2.1” referenced in the subject line by June 17, 2025, for the 2026 allocation process:

  • Scheduling coordinators for LSEs serving load within the ISO Balancing Authority must submit:
    • Completed Import Commitment Data templates:
      • Pre-RA Import Commitment Data templates
      • New Use Import Commitment Data templates
      • The import commitment templates have not been changed from last year, except for additional language allowing Generating Units connected to the CAISO Controlled Grid while subject to CAISO Appendix DD 8.9.1 (b) and (c) to qualify as New Use Import Commitments. For clarifications, please see Proposed Revision Request (PRR) 1620.
