GRIP portal now available for Interconnection Customers to apply for Cluster 16; User Guide updated

Today the GRIP portal is available for Interconnection Customers to begin filling out an application for Cluster 16, but customers will not be able to submit a completed application until Oct. 1, 2026. Submissions will be blocked until the window opens on Oct. 1, 2026. Submissions will be blocked until the window opens on Oct. 1, 2026.

Also, an updated user guide, Prohibited Names List, and a Sample Interconnection Request Application Data Fields document is available to assist in application preparation and submission. 

Additional Important Information:

• For non-synchronous generators, a PSLF generated user-defined model (UDF) with similar responses to the generic model is required. Note: this upload field will not be available until Oct. 1, 2026.
• All BESS Site Control requirements will be measured in .01 acre/MWh and no longer .06 acre/MW
• If a request is proposing to share a gen-tie with another queued project or existing generator, and there is not sufficient capability on the gen-tie to allow all existing and proposed projects to be dispatched to Interconnection Service Capacity, then a plan to upgrade the gen-tie to accommodate all existing and proposed generators must be provided.  The IC will be required to complete the upgrade to the gen-tie before the project can reach COD, and the IR must provide the engineering details of the gen-tie upgrade including the conductor type, impedance, and facility MVA rating.
• Projects interconnecting to a utility’s distribution system seeking deliverability, FCDSR/PCDSR, are now required to submit an application in GRIP. WDAT/WDT projects will be scored for acceptance into the current cluster for the deliverability study. The project’s Point of Delivery to the CAISO Controlled Grid must be to a point that has available Transmission Plan Deliverability. The customer must confirm its Point of Delivery to the CAISO Controlled Grid with the Participating TO to ensure that its Point of Delivery has available Transmission Plan Deliverability. If the Point of Delivery does not have available Transmission Plan Deliverability, the request will be withdrawn.
