  • Transmission planning standards process - archive
The primary guiding principle of ISO Transmission Planning Standards is to maintain or improve the level of transmission system reliability that existed prior to the ISO’s existence. These standards outline reliability criteria that include: (1) specific issues not covered in the standards established by NERC and WECC; (2) interpretations of the NERC reliability standards and WECC regional criteria specific to the ISO grid; and (3) specific criteria that are more stringent than those required by NERC and WECC. The ISO is initiating this process to provide stakeholders the opportunity to review and discuss the proposed changes to the ISO standards before a revision is presented to the ISO Board of Governors.
